This top turned dress, is a must make. Burda 7065 was one of the very first wearable garments that I finished when I first started to sew, 3 years ago. It was one of those moments when I realized I can totally do this sewing thing. The fabric is nothing fancy, just a regular black knit fabric I am sure I picked up from Hancock Fabrics, oh how I miss them. My plan is to make this pattern again using the same technique of extending the top to a fitted dress. I watched a Mimi G Style from YouTube for the details on extending the top.
This Off-the-Shoudler Maxi Dress is a modified version of Simplicity 8045. I made it without the top band. This dress was made for a Fashion Show that I participated in, in Los Angeles, CA, during the Mimi G Conference. It was a great experience but I was more nervous than I have ever been in my whole life.
I cut this in a size 10 and the fit was perfect, the only alterations needed were the length, I am a little bit on the shorter side, so most maxi dresses and or skirts require me to alter the length. The fabric used is a Army Green Knit from Michael Levine’s Fabric store.
This is one that I will make again for the Fall/Winter, if we ever get those seasons, right now it is 110 degrees on average for the next few days.
This fabric is one of my favorite prints from Michael Levine in Los Angeles, CA. I have had this fabric in my stash for about 3 years. The floral is just enough without being too overwhelming. The pattern is Simplicity 1167, from the Mimi G Style pattern line. It also comes with a free easy to follow step by step YouTube tutorial. I cut out a size 10 and extended the back for more back coverage.
I was finally able to carve out some time with my daughter, who was able to snap a few photos of me this past weekend in some of my creations I have completed. Simplicity 8379 has become one of my favorites due to its quick and easy sew. This pattern can be made in a solid or print and it will always be perfect.
This easy summer sewing pattern is Simplicity 1358. It is a quick and easy sew with only four pieces. The 4 pieces include, the front and back, 2 arm holes, and the neckband. The pattern sizing is XXS – XXL. I cut the size medium in order for it to have flow. The chosen fabric is a knit from Michael Levine in Los Angeles, california. I would recommend this pattern for beginner sewers who are looking to complete a first project. The instructions were straightforward and easy to follow.
I am so in LOVE with everything about this dress. I was afraid of it at first because it has darts and pleats. I finished it any way and it turned out just as I had imagined it in my head. The fabric was a must have. I found it at Angels Textiles in the Fashion District in Los Angeles, CA. If I recall correctly it was $3.00 a yard. I call this one my Michelle Pfiefer from Scarface dress. #v9253 @mccallpatterncompany #isewmyownclothes #sewingissexy
